March 8-9 Post-Season Tournament to be Held at DECC in Duluth
Tickets are on sale for the 2008 WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF, which will be held March 8-9 at the Duluth Entertainment & Convention Center in Duluth, Minn. Three-game season tickets for the women's post-season championship tournament are available in three prices: $20 for a reserved seat, $18 for general admission, and $15 for seniors and youth (age 18 and under). Tickets may be purchased at the UMD Athletic Ticket Office. The phone number is (218) 726-8595. Tickets are also available at the WCHA store icon on the league website at wcha.cstv.com.
Single session tickets, priced at $15, $12 and $8, will be available on the days of the semifinals and championship game.

Home of a record eight consecutive national championship teams, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association has held a post-season championship tournament every season since the women's league was founded in 1999-2000. The inaugural and 2000 WCHA Championship was held at Bloomington (Minn.) Ice Gardens, the 2001 WCHA Championship was held at Rochester (Minn.) Recreation Center, the 2002 WCHA Championship was held at Fogerty Arena in Blaine, Minn., the 2003 WCHA Championship was held at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D., and the 2004, 2005 and 2006 WCHA Championships were all held at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minn.

WCHA Women's Playoff Championship to be Named 'WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF ' Tournament in Duluth March 8-9 to Debut New Logo
The Western Collegiate Hockey Association and Associate Commissioner Sara R. Martin announced on Dec. 23, 2007 that the league's annual women's playoff championship has been re-named the ‘WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF', and tickets for the 2008 WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF are on sale now.
In making the announcement of the name change Martin said the league will also have a new logo for the tournament and thanked the University of Minnesota Sport Business Institute for its work in developing the concept and new logo for the championships.
The 2008 WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF will be held March 8-9 at the Duluth Entertainment & Convention Center in Duluth, Minn., and will showcase the four winning teams from the first round of the WCHA playoffs. It will be the first appearance at the DECC (5,294) for the league's post-season championship. The WCHA's women's league, founded in 1999-2000, has won the national championship for the last eight seasons.
"We're extremely pleased to announce this new name and logo for our championships," said Martin. "The WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF is one of the most prestigious and successful collegiate championships in the country and we are proud and happy to say our playoff champion has gone on to win the national championship seven of the last eight years."
